….lessons in patience……

When i’m not sat in front of an ordinateur one of my favourite pastimes is pottering around the house. Well my renovation project has been virtually non exixtant since i started my training course, but i managed to get the sink plumbed in this weekend, so i thought ide put some photos up…….

Many moons ago i decided a toilet next to the bedroom would be a usefull addition. So hot and cold running water needed to be laid on aswell as the leccy for the lights. This took some planning and time. Once i had this in place i had to put in some insulation and started the plasterboard…..

Bought myself a toilet and worked out where it was going, this involved more plumbing, as there was no waste disposal in place before i started. Luckily i had made provisions for this earlier when i was organising and  installing the outside waste disposal pipes…..

After some trial and error i made an executive decision about where the wash basin was going and how much space i could get away with….

So after a certain amount of time with a spotty bog  i got round to doing the taping and jointing…….

These photos dont really do my efforts much justice…. the taping and jointing took some time and the wall dimmensions were all calculated with regards to the tiles that i had bought, so as not, to have to, use half tiles. I did the joints with black grout and used some small slate tiles for the top and bottom of the tiled surfaces. Black grout is very very messy to clean and manages to get everywhere but between the actual joints……

this photo shows off the tiles nicely…. i managed to break a tile when i was drilling the sink support holes so that had to be removed and replaced. These tiles are about 10mm thick and very hard to drill, which stressed me as i still had to make holes for the water and waste pipes……

It really isnt a good idea to go to ikea on a saturday afternoon, so five hours later i finally chose a bathroom wall cabinet that i was happy with, and all hail the God of Molley Fixings we love you…..

Ive got some finishing off to do but nothing i cant live with, untill i get round to it…. painting, some more black grout around my pipe holes, another couple of coats of vitrificator on the floor, a towel rail (back to bloody ikea) and maybe a little book shelf …..
